PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR TRAINERS

May 22, 2012

8:30am - 4:30pm

If you work in training and development, then chances are you're a project manager and didn’t even know it.  Trainers naturally use project-phased approaches to design, implement, and measure workforce development programs, but often do so without having a strategic knowledge and understanding of Project Management Life Cycles.

Now, you can merge your training expertise with globally recognized project management processes to achieve more synergistic, timely, and effective delivery of workforce engagement initiatives.

This class is designed to give participants an understanding of the knowledge areas pertaining to project management, and to show the link between training and development and project management processes.  We will define project terminology and scope by looking at the types of requirements and development life cycle for the project.  Then, we will use this information to create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).  A strong focus of the class is on estimating a  schedule and calculating the critical path of training projects.  Participants will become comfortable with various Project Management processes including risk planning and utilizing lessons learned.  The goals of this class are obtained through lectures, group case studies and hands-on exercises.

Class Goals:

  • Participants will be able to clearly see the importance of defining requirements.
  • Discuss ADDIE development methodology (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) relating to Project Management Life cycles
  • Systematize project work into a WBS.
  • Develop and manage the project schedule.
  • Understand risk management and applying lessons learned to future class development and evaluations.

Event will begin at 8:30am with light continental breakfast and will end at 4:30pm. Lunch will be provided.

Being that the nature of this workshop is very interactive space is limited....
